As a Christian, I believe that if the road is easy, you're probably on the wrong path. I am comforted to know that God is always with us and helping us on our journey. That does not that our journey will be easy. Christianity is a hard row to hoe. Not only are we under constant attack from our fellow man, the slings and arrows of the enemy are always trying to trip us up. It is a daily battle which must be renewed and fought through the strength of prayer and the Holy spirit.
I am not saying that being a Christian isn't a wonderful and joyful experience.   The peace of mind that I have now is something the world could never fill. I say this as a reminder to those who think God is not happy with them just because they are experiencing hard times. When the battle is hard you can be assured that the rewards will be befitting the struggle.

The people who "made up" the bible sure did a lousy job. First, if you are going to make up a religion, you would think that you would not even include a hell. Accept Jesus or spend eternity in hell? What's that all about? How are you going to make money when you discourage people by promising punishment? You would think that they would make a really cool heaven for those who were, well, really cool. Then have descending levels until you would reach a really boring heaven that showed old reruns of "I Love Lucy" or something.
Then there's Jesus himself. Kind, caring, forgiving, and taking on all of our sins so that we may enter heaven. You would think they would have "made up" a more dynamic figure. One who crushed all of his enemies and destroyed all of those who wouldn't follow Him. He would definitely not have said "“Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it." (Matthew 7:13-14). He would have been a lot more inclusive and said the reverse. Many will find it and few would be denied. What's the point of having a religion if you can't dupe people and make money off of them?
What's the point? The point is that the bible is the word of God. The point is that Jesus did die for our sins and there is no amount of good works or money that you can use to buy your way in to heaven. The point is that Jesus did make it hard on Himself (dieing on the cross) but easy for us to enter heaven. The reason that "few will find it" is because it takes a deep and sincere commitment. It means that you eat, sleep and breathe the word of God so that you may always know and follow His will.
Religion is not God. God is not religion. Religion is a set of rules that man has juxtaposed with the word of God to dilute His message. It is deception and arrogance designed to delude people in to thinking that they can earn an entrance in to heaven by following a prescribed set of rules. Man made religion. God made love, trust, beauty and forgiveness. None of these attributes are to be found in religion. They are only attained when one understands that acceptance of Jesus is the only one and true way to heaven. ~ Don Gordon
