I'm dead. now what?

When the well runs dry, to whom do you turn? At the end of your life, when all of your dreams and aspirations are gone, what do you have left? Can you look back on your life and know for certain that your existence was something that was worthwhile, or will you see a life that was wasted in countless exploits of behavior only meant to gratify your self indulgent pleasures?
If you can't answer these questions now, then the answer will probably be no. You need to seek these answers before it is to late. I'm sure you have read all about Jesus and have a cursory knowledge of the Bible. You fathom the words, but do you understand their meaning? Do you know what it is like to put everything that you are and will ever hope to be in God's hands? The only way that I can describe it is a miracle of the soul. True conversion is something that can ONLY happen when you dedicate your ENTIRE life to God. Atonement can only be achieved when you accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior and ask for forgiveness of your sins.
You probably think that Christians believe God is like a genie that we pray to and he grants all our wishes. Or that we give him credit for all the good things and chalk everything else up as circumstance. You could not be further from the truth. We know and understand that free will dictates our life on earth. Our free will and non Christians free will alike.
Satan is the god of this world, and while our Father in heaven protects, we are also in the enemies domain. As that is the case, we understand that this world is predominately evil and that so are the things that happen here. Without free will, our existence here is meaningless. He is a crucible that burns away the chaff of our spirit and quenches us in the soothing embrace of his love.Mat 12:35  Good people do the good things that are in them. But evil people do the evil things that are in them.

Commentary Petra Lyrics - Seen and not heard

These lyrics from Petra touched me. I think more Christians need to heed the words "Actions speak louder than words".

Too many black sheep in the family
Too many stones from a house of glass
They've heard the story, they've heard the lines
But talk is too cheap to change their minds
They want to see some vital signs

Convictions - in the way we live
Convictions - not a narrative
Actions speak a little louder than words

(Chorus)
Seen and not heard, seen and not heard
Sometimes God's children should be seen and not heard
There's too much talk and not enough walk
Sometimes God's children should be seen and not heard

Delayed reaction to hostility
Brings us into reality
Cause when we answer in our defense
They can see through the false pretense
They want to see some evidence

Commitment - no more alibis
Commitment - not a compromise
Actions speak a little louder than words

Let your light so shine in all you do
With an answer near when they come to you
Don't let your mouth start talkin'
Until your feet start walkin'

Essay of a common man part 2 by Don Gordon

Religion is gone. No priests, pastors, clerics, or mullahs. Do unto others as you will. No consequence, no afterlife, just man’s own judgment as to how we should all comport ourselves. Does anyone truly believe that this is the answer? We can’t trust our own natures to do what is right. Atheism has never been the savior of mankind. It is actually our imperfect understanding of God’s will that has caused all of our problems.
God is the author and meaning of the word love. Sadly, he is often judged himself by the actions of his disciples. If someone calls themselves a Christian, and then goes out and kills, it is seen as a reflection as God, even though the bible forbids murder. It is one thing to transgress against God and repent your sins, and quite another to have no intention to stop. People seem much more willing to forgive anyone who is not a priest. I have noted how much compassion people have even shown convicted murderers. Everyone revels in the downfall of a man of God. Oh, whom do they turn to when tragedy strikes?
Will I let the evil that befalls us rule me as well? When will we see that good intentions truly do pave a path to hell? When will we see that our lives are not ruled by motives alone, but by the actions of others who are not men of God? Strive to do what is right, and God will bless you. Not earthly blessings such as wealth, health, and an abundance of strength. Such things are not rewards in the heavenly kingdom. A crown of life is what awaits you.
What are the five crowns promised by God in the afterlife? Well, a crown imparts sovereignty. Do you think that after all of our struggles in this pit of hell, after all the importance that our Lord has placed on free will that God would be satisfied by surrounding himself with a group of sycophants? It is my belief that we will all play an integral part in the order of the universe.

My thoughts on immigration

Is it immigration or sanitation? Our cultures clash upon the sands of time. Is one better than another? Is it right that one should fall upon the ash heap of history and another rise towards greatness? Should the fairy tale continue until all is dust? Look out into the night, what do you see? I see all of God’s creation working together. Not as one harmonious being. Not all striving together to do what is right. However, it is a balanced ecosystem. Just because the wolf and the rabbit are not working in harmony, it does not mean that all is not right with the world. Each one strives to live in its own capacity, blissfully unaware that in the grand scheme of things they are serving a greater design. This is not meant to say that the polarity of the universe lends itself towards chaos, or that disharmony is the true path. It simply means that as the wolf perceives his destiny, it may not be able to see with the eyes of the rabbit.
When you respect my way of life, you strive to give meaning to my existence. When you disrespect my culture, you strip away all purpose from my life. I understand that your heritage has meaning for you, but when you live in my country, you inherit some of my beliefs. To totally deny all that I am is to convolute all that I am. Would it be right for me to go to your country and force you to assimilate your customs to mine? Don’t you think that the citizen’s in your homeland would not rise up in protest if such an action were to be taken? Would we not see mass protests in the streets? Would we not see large masses of the population rise up in anger? Does this sound familiar?
What it all boils down to is a matter of respect, not tolerance. When you respect someone else’s beliefs, you lend credence to the fact that your ideals may not be the ultimate arbiter of things to come. Tolerance simply means that you disagree with someone’s position and you feel that it is inconsequential. To me that is the ultimate insult. Stupidity does not give you license to do as you please. You may wonder to what this is all leads up to. Simply stated, ignorance is no substitute for thought. You declare “I do not know any better” so I should be excused from the simple courtesies that should be accorded to everyone.
All cultures have meaning to the people who are living in them. Use your eyes to see. If  you don’t understand a way of life, you need not condemn it. You also need not condone it. God is the ultimate judge of the past and present. However, he does call upon you to point out, in compassion, a sin that may drag your fellow man into the depths of hell. What is sin? It is a crime against God. All crimes have a price. You not only must face retribution from your fellow man, but from God as well.

Essay of a common man - Part 1 by Don Gordon

As I sit and ponder the graciousness of a forgiving God, I also wonder about the capriciousness of man. We seem to strive to be rational, but our true nature is given to acts of extreme and oft times irrational behavior. If we were indeed created in God’s image, from where does this duality arise? I may never know the exact causation of God’s ultimate purpose. I will, however, strive to do what is right, and good, because the nature that guides me will allow no less.
I see the sunrise, so majestic as it arises above the twilight hours to shine its light upon the shadows of our souls. Its blinding light engulfs us and purges our darkest desires. Like Icarus, with wings wrought from the faith in our hearts, we rise towards the heavens, only to be cast down to earth by the heat that inflames us all. The heat of our passions will consume us all. I Love! I hate! I weep! I sigh! I live, and then when all of my passions are spent, I wither and die.
Will this be your final epitaph? There is so much joy in life. Though it is transitory by its very nature, it can still be a monument to goodness everlasting. One brick at a time builds a foundation. Stone upon stone, and layer upon layer, is the way that any lasting structure is built. You may feel that your life is inconsequential. You may feel that you are alone and destitute. Soldiers of the soul know no boundaries. Kindred spirits Guide us all.  Though I may ponder our very existence, I will never doubt the guiding light of God.

Joy is in heaven where I long to be
In the arms of my Lord and savior
singing praise and worship to thee
In the house of the Lord forever
when my soul has been set free

The Father of light has vanquished
the father of corruption and lies.
in the depth of hell he’s banished
where the hope of the hopeless dies
in the land of no Son or sky

From our place in heaven perched
in the land of forgiveness and grace
we’ll bask in his glorious presence
All the bitterness and tears erased
In his kingdom, our final home,
as we meet together, face to face

God is love

I am more than a little annoyed at some of the "Christian" comments I have read in various posts around the web. Jerk, moron, idiot, etc. should not be words in the Christian lexicon.
Who did Christ show the most love and compassion for? Sinners. Who did he direct the most anger at? The spiritual leaders of the day. That is because the first group was being deceived and the second group was intentionally deceiving people. The vast majority of people fall into the first group. If Christ showed them love and compassion, can we do any less?
